Waiting on Wednesday: Shooting Scars

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This one's right around the corner for me, and i just can't wait. I've been stalking the authors blog for months now and I am so ready for this release that I'm growing anxious...If you haven't yet read Sins and Needles, the first book in the series, please do so now...

Description: Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

Told in dual POV from Camden and Ellie.

Ahhhh!!!! I totally loved the first book. I cant wait to get my hands on this one...and that cover? Tell me you aren't in love? If you've already read S&N, there isn't much longer to wait for this sequel...It will be out on August 20th....and I'll be ordering it promptly at 12:01 am (preordering is for sissies ;) lol).

What books are you waiting on??

Waiting on Wednesday, Merry Belated Christmas

Hello All you Lovely followers!!!! I think I'll begin with the WoW post, and move on from there.
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and is a weekly event where we bloggers spotlight upcoming books that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's "Waiting on" Picks are:
Book: Monstrous Beauty
By: Elizabeth Fama
Publication Date: August 21, 2012

Description: Monstrous mermaids, ghosts, and a century-old curse feature in this beautifully crafted, compulsively readable thriller.

In 1872, mermaid Syrenka falls in love with a young naturalist. When she abandons her life underwater for a chance at happiness on land, she is unaware that this decision comes with horrific and deadly consequences.

One hundred thirty years later, seventeen-year-old Hester meets a mysterious stranger and feels drawn to him in a way she can’t explain or resist. For generations, love and death have been inextricably linked for the women in her family. Is it an undiagnosed genetic defect . . . or a curse? Hester’s investigation of her family’s strange, sad history leads her to the graveyard, the crypt, and the bottom of the ocean—but powerful forces will do anything to keep her from uncovering her connection to Syrenka and to the tragedy of so long ago.
My Thoughts: I have recently fallen in love with all mermaid books and cant wait until this one comes out. I hope it's great.
Book: The Kill Order
By: James Dashner
Publication Date: August 14, 2012

Description: Before WICKED was formed, before the Glade was built, before Thomas entered the Maze, sun flares seared the earth and mankind fell to disease.
The Kill Order is the story of that fall.
A prequel  to The Maze Runner trilogy, The Kill Order has been in the works since the completion of The Maze Runner. The  story of civilization's fall was kept under wraps and is the explication of the events that began this bestselling series.

My Thoughts: No I haven't read the Maze Runner yet. I have had plans to for quite some time but it just seemed like I have somehow lost it in my pile of books. Not to worry. I will get to it as soon as possible, and when I do, this book will be next!

Merry Belated Christmas!!!!!

Yes, I ignored you all during the Holidays. Sorry about that, but Hey, I'm here now. Honestly, with all the day's off from work, and the last minute shopping, and the little sister's Christmas play and the cooking of the Christmas food, and the last minute gift wrapping, and the constant visits to grandma's house on Christmas day AND, AND, AND........ I just ran out of time. I was so exhausted st the end of the day that I just came home and went to sleep. I wish all your holiday celebrations were less stressful than mine and that you got everything you want. I know I did. I finally got a new computer and it's a Macbook!!! I'm so excited and as soon as I learn how to do stuff on it, I'll be blogging from it and beginning to write my book (Woohoo)! Anyway, warm wishes to you and your family!

Waiting on Wednesday

Okay everyone!! How are you all??

I have been online a lot lately and thus have three WoW picks for you this week!!
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights books that have yet to come out that we are patiently (or more often than not, impatiently) waiting on. I have three choices this week because, well, you all know I cant make concrete decisions. This week's picks are:

Book: Above
By: Leah Bobet
Publication Date: April 1, 2012

Description: An extraordinary debut urban fantasy about dangers outside and in.
"Above pulls off that rare trick of being convincing and utterly magical at the same time."
- Emma Donoghue, NYT bestselling author of ROOM
"Leah Bobet's ABOVE is that rarest of creatures, combining the outspoken honesty of a good first novel with the craft of a seasoned professional." - Elizabeth Bear, Hugo Award-winning author of DUST
Matthew has loved Ariel from the moment he found her in the tunnels, her bee's wings falling away. They live in Safe, an underground refuge for those fleeing the city Above--like Whisper, who speaks to ghosts, and Jack Flash, who can shoot lightning from his fingers.
But one terrifying night, an old enemy invades Safe with an army of shadows, and only Matthew, Ariel, and a few friends escape Above. As Matthew unravels the mystery of Safe's history and the shadows' attack, he realizes he must find a way to remake his home--not just for himself, but for Ariel, who needs him more than ever before.
ABOVE is the debut of an amazing new voice.

Why I want it: Look at that cover. Isn't it amazing. Oh and the fact that she has bee's wings. I just couldn't not choose this book. I hope it's going to be as amazing as it seems!!!

Book: Article 5
By: Kristen Simmons
Publication Date: February 14, 2012

Description: New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.
The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.
There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.
Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.
Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.
That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved.

Why I want it: Er, did you read that synopsis? Enough said...

Book:  Beautiful Evil
By: Kelly Keaton
Publication Date: February 21,2012

Description: A power she can’t deny. A destiny she’s determined to fight.
When Ari first arrived in the dilapidated city of New 2, all she wanted was to figure out who she was. But what she discovered was beyond her worst nightmare. Ari is a descendant of Medusa and can already sense the evil growing inside her—a power the goddess Athena will stop at nothing to possess.

Why I want it: I read Darkness Becomes Her and fell in love with this series. I cant wait to see where this story takes us. Becides I'll admit. The cover is quite interesting

Waiting on Wednesday: The Deserter by Pedar O. Guilin

Hello Everyone!!!

So I havent yet figured out goodreads. I can do a few things, but I dont have many friends on there so I end up just sitting and staring at my homepage, unsure of what to do next. Sometimes I look at books. But thats it. If you're interested, add me as a friend. My email is smleach5400 [at] yahoo [dot] com and my name is Sherre on there I think. Anywho, I end up finding many of my WoW books on Barnes and Noble as a result of my inabilit to navigate. This week's WoW pick is no different...
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This weeks pick is:

Book: The Deserter
By: Pedar O. Guilin
Publication Date: March 13, 2012

Description: To save his tribe, the cannibal Stopmouth must abandon it. Leaving the stone-age world of the Surface behind, he travels to the Roof, the mysterious hi-tech world suspended above. But the Roof has its own problems. The nanotechnology that controls it is collapsing. And now a rebellion against the ruling Commission is about to erupt.
Hunted by the Commission's nano-enhanced agents, Stopmouth must succeed in a desperate hunt of his own: to find the woman he loves. Only she knows how to save his tribe. But in this super-sophisticated world, all he has to fight with are his raw strength and fierce courage.

Why I want it: There aren't many books in male POV these days. I am very intrigued to read this one. Besides, the main character's a cannibal and when do you really get to read a book referencing cannibalism. It sounds pretty amazing. It also has just a touch of love story, which makes me love it even more.

Waiting on Wednesday

Hello everyone and er, happy wednesday (i wish it was friday). I'm feeling slightly exhausted today, like I could tip over and fall into sleep at any moment. (no idea why, I slept pretty darn well last night) My eyes are angry at me because I'm forcing them to stay open, and my legs feel like I'm shuffling like a zombie. Maybe I'm turning into a zombie. I mean really, they're probably really tired too. They never seem to sleep and just walk nonstop. Maybe they really dont want to eat peoples brains, and instead they're just trying to get a nice nap, on your bed, and they feel like they have to kill you to get to your bed but never ever make it. Okay I think I'm done rambling (I ramble when I want to sleep). These are the books I want really really bad:

Waiting on wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases we want really really bad. I probably should stop doing them because they do nothing but make my TBR pile ridiculously long, but who cares. I almost never follow "probably should" advice, becides, I guess it'll get that way with or without the help of all of you. I surf for books when I'm bored (which is often)...Okay done rambling again. Back to the matter at hand:

Book: Under the never Sky
Author: Veronica Rossi
Publication Date: January 3, 2012

Description: Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.
Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world brimming with harshness and beauty.

Book: The Savage Grace (Dark Divine #3)
By: Bree Despain
Publication Date: March 13, 2012

Description: Grace's life is a mess. Daniel is still a werewolf, Talbot can't be trusted, and Caleb is still out there. With Sirhan's impending death, war seems imminent. Will Grace give in to the wolf to save her family? What will happen to Daniel . . . and can their love survive one last test?

My thoughts: I want them both. NOW!

Er, disclaimer: (which won't do anything to prevent what will hppen because by the time you  read this I will probably have already done it) Be advised that I may ramble in your comments section. I'm feeling in the talking mood!

Waiting On Wednesday: Winterling by Sara Prineas

Hello Everyone!! Its Wednesday...you know what that means right?
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's pick is:

Book: Winterling
By: Sara Prineas
Publication Date: January 3, 2012

Description: With her boundless curiosity and wild spirit, Fer has always felt that she doesn’t belong. Not when the forest is calling to her, when the rush of wind through branches feels more real than school or the quiet farms near her house. Then she saves an injured creature—he looks like a boy, but he’s really something else. He knows who Fer truly is, and invites her through the Way, a passage to a strange, dangerous land.

Fer feels an instant attachment to this realm, where magic is real and oaths forge bonds stronger than iron. But a powerful huntress named the Mor rules here, and Fer can sense that the land is perilously out of balance. Fer must unlock the secrets about the parents she never knew and claim her true place before the worlds on both sides of the Way descend into endless winter.

Sarah Prineas captivates in this fantasy-adventure about a girl who must find within herself the power to set right a terrible evil.

My Thoughts: I am so looking forward to this book. It seems like some supernatural thing is at work here...but what? Werewolves? Something else? I cant wait to read it!!!

Waiting on Wednesday

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's "waiting on" pick is:

Book: Starters
By: Lissa Price
Publication Date:March 13, 2012

Description: The first in a YA futuristic thriller series featuring a society where youth is coveted at an impossible price, and one girl’s ability to bring it all crumbling down.

So obviously that isn't much of a description, but it's enough to make me want it! Its like a well kept secret, you want to know so bad that you'll actually anxiously wait until you can find more.  Oh and I LOVE the cover!

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Waiting on Wednesday: Indecision causes 3 choices

Okay, so now you're all getting to see how ridiculously indecisive I am. There are 3 books I am (un-patiently) waiting on......

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

My choices for this week are:

Book: The Calling
By: Kelley Armstrong
Publication Date: April 10, 2012

Description: Maya Delaney’s paw-print birthmark is the sign of what she truly is—a skin-walker. She can run faster, climb higher, and see better than nearly anyone else. Experiencing intense connections with the animals that roam the woods outside her home, Maya knows it’s only a matter of time before she’s able to Shift and become one of them. And she believes there may be others in her small town with surprising talents.
Now, Maya and her friends have been forced to flee from their homes during a forest fire they suspect was deliberately set. Then they’re kidnapped, and after a chilling helicopter crash, they find themselves in the Vancouver Island wilderness with nothing but their extraordinary abilities to help them get back home. Plentiful action and romance in this second installment in the Darkness Rising series will keep readers enthralled to the last page.

My Thoughts: So, I havent read the first book in the trilogy, The Gathering,  and I hear you're not supposed to read the second description before you read the first book, but I dont care because I want this one too! Becides, I cant find which box I put the first book in when I had to condense my piles of books at my mom's wishes (I cant wait until I get a bookshelf or 2 or 5 next year when I move out.) What about you? I know you want it! Becides, look at that cover! The girl is gorgeous!

Book: A Temptation of Angels
By: Michelle Zink
Publication Date: March 20, 2012

Description: Even angels make mistakes in this page-turning epic romance
When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world's past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel.
Michelle Zink masterfully weaves historical fantasy with paranormal romance to create a gripping tale of love and betrayal.

My Thoughts: YES! YES! YES! Bring it on!!!!!!!

And Finally:

Book: The Gathering Storm
By: Robin Bridges
Publication Date: January 10, 2012

Description: St. Petersburg, Russia, 1888. As she attends a whirl of glittering balls, royal debutante Katerina Alexandrovna, Duchess of Oldenburg, tries to hide a dark secret: she can raise the dead. No one knows. Not her family. Not the girls at her finishing school. Not the tsar or anyone in her aristocratic circle. Katerina considers her talent a curse, not a gift. But when she uses her special skill to protect a member of the Imperial Family, she finds herself caught in a web of intrigue.
An evil presence is growing within Europe's royal bloodlines—and those aligned with the darkness threaten to topple the tsar. Suddenly Katerina's strength as a necromancer attracts attention from unwelcome sources . . . including two young men—George Alexandrovich, the tsar's standoffish middle son, who needs Katerina's help to safeguard Russia, even if he's repelled by her secret, and the dashing Prince Danilo, heir to the throne of Montenegro, to whom Katerina feels inexplicably drawn.
The time has come for Katerina to embrace her power, but which side will she choose—and to whom will she give her heart?

My Thoughts: Are you as in love with this book as I am? You should be! Ahhh, I am im book love heaven over here! By the way, this book comes out 8 days before my 23rd Birthday and would make an excellent birthday present, hint hint.

What are your choices?

Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will discover that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

My Thoughts: I think this book will be amazing. I didnt read any of Dan Wells other books, but I am sure that I would like to read this one.

"Waiting on" Wednesday - Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My Choice for this week is:

Book: Touch Of Power (Healer #1)
By: Maria V. Snyder
Publication Date: December 20, 2011
Description: Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted.
Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture.
Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people.

As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life....

My Thoughts: Have you seen that cover?!?!?! Even if you have, scroll up and look again! I would buy this book for the cover alone, but then you see that the book has "brains behind the beauty" (haha). The story seems so interesting! I just HAVE to get this book!
