Description: In the beginning, there was an apple—

And then there was a car crash, a horrible injury, and a hospital. But before Evening Spiker’s head clears a strange boy named Solo is rushing her to her mother’s research facility. There, under the best care available, Eve is left alone to heal.
Just when Eve thinks she will die—not from her injuries, but from boredom—her mother gives her a special project: Create the perfect boy.
Using an amazingly detailed simulation, Eve starts building a boy from the ground up. Eve is creating Adam. And he will be just perfect... won’t he?

My Thoughts: Eve and Adam was a great read that I just had to keep listening to. I had it in audiobook format and just couldn't get enough of this Sci Fi book.

We start out with Evening Spiker, also known as Eve. She's gotten into a horrible accident and is in the hospital. Despite her horrible injuries and the possibility that she will lose her leg, her mother Tara Spiker, insists that she be moved the the Spiker research facility. In this facility she is given the best care available and an assignment to create the perfect boy on a simulation.

Meanwhile, she is becoming close to one of the other occupants in the Facility, Solo, and is coming to terms with some of the strange things happening at her mothers facility, and to Eve herself. She's starting to wonder about the extreme realistic qualities of this "perfect boy" Adam, and is learning about Spiker Biotech's "experiments." Soon, Eve must choose between what is right, and what is easy, and I can promise you, nothing is as it seems.

Eve is very smart, although not as suspicious as I would probably be in her situation. She's got guts, that's for sure and she's good with doing what she thinks is right, although not always good with finding out all sides of a story. Solo, on the other hand is smart and extremely suspicious. He's not completely trusting, and can stab you in the back in a second if necessary. He's passionate and feeling and intense, but also funny and fun and exciting. I liked him, even though I didn't fall for him as I do with most guys in books. Tara Spiker, Eve's mom, is a total Bitch (I apologize for the cursing) who you just love to hate, and she just so happens to know that fact about herself. She's powerful and knows she can do (pretty much) whatever she wants to do and knows how to easily manipulate others into doing it.

There's the hint of a love triangle, but not on the level that you would expect most triangles to be, so don't worry. It's more like a regular relationship, with a bit of lust (or what passes for lust in YA) on the side, which brings me to Adam. OMG!!!!!! Adam!!! How I love thee Adam. He's apparently so gorgeous that not just the women, but the men too seem to want to stare. He's physically perfect and has almost all the qualities you would want in a guy, as if you could write them all down and order it on a menu, and I guess in this story, you can.

There's a big twist at the end that prevented this from being the predictable story I thought it would be, and for that I'm glad. I hate predictability. This story addressed so many things. From the question of, "What is perfection," to "Is it right to play god," and What is moral," this story made sure it stayed with you long after the last page (or in my case, the last word on my iPod). It was written beautifully and made me feel exactly what the characters felt exactly when they felt it, mainly from the perspective of Eve. When she was confused, so were you, and when she felt betrayed, so did you. It was great.

I would give this story 5 stars and would recommend it to those who love to read Sci Fi, that isn't too technical and to those who like to get more than romance out of their books. I would definitely read/listen to this again.

I'm glad to see 5 stars here. I've seen lukewarm reviews and I've wondered why.

P.S. I noticed your spam above me. You could fix this without going to capcha by disallowing Anonymous comments. I had to do it too. It fixed the entire problem.

After I watched your book haul video I was really inspired to buy a bunch of books myself, and on my adventure to the local Barnes and Nobles I came this close to picking this book up...was really tempted...get it...temptation. Anyways, i didn't get it but that was only because I wanted stay stay on a relative budget, but now I'm stating to regret it just a tiny bit. this sound like a good book , one that I might have to pick up on my next haul. I agree twist ate always good, hate when things ate too.predictable, especially in books or movies.

Okay, okay I'll buy it. But please...put the gun down. (Lol) Similar to take a penny leave a penny, I perscribe to the read a book buy a book philosophy, so I'll buy it once I have finished one of the books I've already purchased.

This one has just arrived in my school library as a donation. must check it out when it comes back(I think one of our boys is reading it right now). Ack, spam comments! The bane of my life, even with anonymous comments switched off AND Captcha! They get themselves a Google profile and then they can comment, even if it's just a general blurb followed by an advertisement for carpet layers. I do have comment moderation. i assumed that caught everything, but recently I discovered my spam folder and, to my horror, a genuine comment which had been sitting there for months - an entry in my giveaway. Of course, I emailed the author to apologise. A messy business.
